Street Sweeping Truck Ride On with storage compartment

Fantastic toy for kids 3 and under. IT comes with a few colored blocks that kids drive over to be sweep up by the street cleaning brush. The seat is slightly tricky to remove as you have to push in to buttons on opposite sides of the seat to remove the blocks for sweeping up over and over, It would have been much better and easier if the seat would pivot open like a lid. Other tan that, it is a solid safe toy, I bougth 2 of them for my 2 year old niece and nephew. They love it. My 4 year old mephew also rides on it, although he has to bend his knees a bit more.A great buy at $10.00 EACH.

It is now six weeks later and he can get himself up on it and try to scoot. His 4 year old sister likes to push him around on it and she love the block pick up feature. TAKE NOTE!

I bought this truck for my son\'s 2 b-day in sept. and a week later the thing that makes the ladder go up stopped working, I thought it was batteries but nothing changed. In Dec. I bought the garbage truck because he went crazy for it when he saw it. when I got it out of the box, I was showing him how it works, and found out that the thing that makes the trash can go up, does not work either!!!! What a big disapointment for me and for him! It could have being so much fun if these trucks would have work like they are supposed to.

It\'s a decent toy for kids

I don\'t know about hours of fun like the other review mention but it will entertain your young ones for sometime. I wish it did more then just move the ladder and have a few repeating phrases but I guess I shouldn\'t expect so much from a Tonka toy. The Tonka\'s I had as a kid didn\'t do anything but they were made of metal unlike this plastic toy.

I only really have one big negative comment on this toy. What\' s up with the light lever, it just turns on the lights and that\'s it?????!!! Maybe the one I got is broken, if it\'s not then this feature is lame.

The toy may not be that hot but the one I got my kid came with a DVD that shows what firefighters do on a daily bases, that is worth more then the toy in my opinion.

I need the little fireman

My nephew recieved the tonka fire truck for Christmas 3yrs ago. This Christmas our family dog chewed his little fireman up (on accident). He\'s 5 and cried for 15 minutes. Is there anyway you can purchased just the little man or anybody not want the little man that comes with it.

Very well designed

Bought this toy for my 2 1/2 yr-old Grandchild, and even if he doesn\'t seem to be a \"destructive\" type of boy, he did handle it with no restrictions. In spite of that, the truck works OK, and the ladder is intact.

I liked the fact that there are several choices for the electronics. Siren sounds, messages, etc

The fireman figure received a good deal of handling, but remains in one piece.

I recommend this truck for any kid 3 or more year-old.

Three Fun Modes of Play
Made with colorful, durable plastic construction, the Scoot 'n Scoop holds of child's play--and up to 42 pounds. The seat and gravel guard both detach from the truck body and snap in to different positions for a push mode, walk mode, and ride-on mode. Put to the Driver's Test
The Scoot 'n Scoop is great for a range of young children--and though it's marketed toward boys, little girls will have fun with this toy too! While kids can play for a long time in any one of the truck's play modes, they're stuck in each one without a parent's help in moving the wheel, seat, and gravel guard. Attaching the gravel guard and seat is easy, but pressing both buttons down and lifting up at the same time to remove either is a pain and may require an extra hand. Parents will also have to attach the real axle with the included screw assembly. It only takes a minute and a small screwdriver, but adults should be careful to keep the small parts away from the kids. Children can throw their own toys in the dump bed, but the Scoot 'n Scoop only picks up the three included shape blocks. Just as much fun to play with on its own, the Revvin' Beepin' Wheel uses three AA batteries, which come included with the wheel.

fun toy

We\'ve had this toy for over a year now. My son loves the noises the steering wheel makes and loves that the truck picks up the shapes. However, he likes to push it sometimes and he likes to ride it. In order to move the seat from \'push\' to \'sit\' mode, it takes an adult (with two coordinated hands!) to change it. I have found this to be the most frustrating part of this toy. There should be a way to change settings without having to push two buttons and pull at the same time. In addition, it would help if there were some sort of braking mechanism. Other than that, my son - now 19 months old - absolutely loves it!

Grows with your child!

I\'m all about toys that will last longer than a month. This tonka truck is a big hit with my son. We got it for him when he was 9 mo old and it was worth the money! At first he liked just standing and moving the objects like the key/blinker/horn for the noise. Now he loves practicing to walk with it. Eventually he will be able to ride on it too!

My only annoyance is that when the key is turned you have to wait awhile for the engine noise to stop. You can\'t just turn the key back to make it stop. It also seems a little loud and there\'s no volume control. I think it bothers me more than him.

Overall, he\'s having fun with this toy!

Much bigger than pictured

My son has this truck and its MUCH bigger than the pictures show!

He loves Tonkas with red flames its VERY sturdy and the wheels are super thick so he can play in his sandbox.

Tons of fun for my little boy

My son is 2.5 and runs this truck around the house like a bat out of blazes. The truck is so big that he can actually sit in the trailer and have his sister push him around. I would not recommend this behavior, but nevertheless they both enjoy this truck.

Rock solid item

Awesome toy! Superbly built, reminds me of the original we all had as kids. Very large too...if you have a small sand box, look for something a little more tiny.

Better than the original that I had when I was a kid!

I bought it for a friends son and was surprised how durable and well made it is. You generally don\'t get that with toy remakes from old classics. And I think it is safer too, since it has more rounded edges, as opposed to hard corners like the original.

Red flames are awesome, not to mention the extra boulders that are included in this bonus pack.

Overall highly recommended!

Get This Truck

I bought this for my son for his Second Christmas. He is in Kindergarten now and still loves it. I am curious to see how many more years he can continue sitting on it before he finally breaks it. I love it and so does my son.

A Bright Red Fire Truck!

My son listed a fire truck as the thing he most wanted for Christmas this year, and I was pleased to find the Tonka Mighty Fire Truck. I had a Tonka fire truck when I was a child, and I still remember how much fun I had playing with it. Tonka trucks are built strong for hours of play, and the Mighty Fire Truck is no exception. The construction is very strong, with most of the truck being made from steel. Even the plastic parts, such as the wheels and ladders, are strong and durable. The ladders can be removed and allow the child to use their imagination with them. I played with my Tonka fire truck for hours when I was a child, and I hope my son gets as much enjoyment from his new truck as I did . I highly recommend this great truck. It is strong, the colors are bright, and it allows for a lot of fun, imaginitave play. Buy this truck for your child and you\'ll soon see why Tonka trucks are the best!

Great truck!

I bought this for my oldest son in December 2002 (six years ago now) and it was one of his favorite toys for a long time. He has since outgrown it, but my middle son plays with it now and it is still going strong. I\'ve always had good experiences with Tonka\'s metal trucks and this firetruck is no exception. Here\'s what we like about it:

> It has held up to the worst my boys have been able to dish out.

> The size is perfect. Big enough to push and run with but not so big it can\'t be stored easily in the closet. (My son \"parks\" his in the garage.)

> The ladders on the side and top move and/or removable, which he likes.

> The top has an opening and he puts his Little People figures in there so they can drive.

A great truck for indoor or outdoor play

My three year old got this for Christmas from my parents, and both he and my 19-month-old son love playing with it. We love that it has no sounds, lights, or automated movement - it\'s just pure imagination and creativity when they play with it. The truck is very durable and, although it has two ladders that are removable, they are easy to put back in place and are very sturdy. The extendable ladder does come apart occasionally, but it is also easy to put back together. It is also great for outdoor play due to the lack of batteries and electronics. A classic toy!

Great toy for little ones

We have two of these - one for each of my children. My younger one likes it because it is easy to use. Yes, it does tip forward when you put weight in the bucket, but the kids work around that. My older one (now three) still plays with this toy because the bucket is big enough to put a bunch of little things like letter blocks or small toys or dirt in and really be able to move the cargo.

It is also easy to clean. Rinse it off in the sink (make sure you get underneath) and let it air dry.

TONKA TOUGH BUT NOT HEAVY

Great toddle toy, Dont have to worry about them hurting themselves on it. This truck is great. Not too heavy, not to lite, built very well, and lasts.

Great fun!

My son received this for his 2nd birthday. He is all boy and loves trucks, tractors, anything that moves. This toy is one that he plays with often and has endured alot with no sign of breaking. The \"boulders\" are extra added fun and the \"click\" noise is a fun little addition. There is a button on the steering wheel that looks like a horn, but does not make any noise (which would be a great little addition, I think). All in all, it has survived 4 months of rough and tumble play and is still going strong. The size is also a really nice size too - not too big or too small, about medium.

Much smaller than you would expect

When I saw the steering wheel on this tractor, I just assumed it would be larger. That is my own fault for not checking the specs.

The toy is really small. When you turn the wheel it feels like it could break off. The wheels make a clicking sound when it is moved, so be prepared to be for some noise!

Neat rock blocks for the scooper on the tractor.

Quality Is Far From The Old Tonka

It\'s a shame how far from the old Tonka metal toys this line of toys has come. Honestly this thing isn\'t worth the 3 stars that I gave it. Tonka toys use to closely resemble the real machine but this thing is just awful. It cheap plastic and the arms are incredibly filmsy. When we put it into my son\'s toybox, it came back out all warped up where something else had been sitting on it. You can\'t even use it now.

We bought the whole line of Tonka Wheel Driver\'s at Christmas and have been disappointed with everyone of them. There are other better Tonka toys out there.

Love the Recycle Garbage Truck

My son saw this Tonka Recycle truck at the store but we did not purchase it at that time. If your boy (or girl) likes big utility vehicles - very fun!!!!

My son is one of those toddlers who will race from window to window and can be talked down from a tantrum just with the mere mention of \"garbage truck\". As a matter of fact, when he was a young baby, probably 8 months old, I had him on my hip and we were watching the neighborhood garbage truck go by and I said \"Bye bye garbage truck\". I swear, he repeated exactly what I said, verbatim. He hadn\'t even said \"mama\" yet...

So this was an obvious choice for us. We found it at Wal-Mart for about [...] ..I saw it marked down to[...] the other day. Bummer.

But he has really enjoyed it, as has his sister and all the friends and family who have come to our house since Santa brought it. It\'s got lots of fun buttons, and it sorta admonishes your child if they don\'t recycle. It\'s loads of fun (literally).

And the thing is sturdy. My son is a big guy, and I swear he can easily straddle and ride the thing if the mood hits. Enjoyable, fulfills a child\'s need to enjoy something we consider ordinary and they consider magic. It makes it real for him. I recommend [...] Outrageous!

Great fun.

We got this truck and the Tonka Lights and Sound Rescue Helicopter for our boys, three and five for Christmas. The five-year-old is most interested in them. One problem for us has been that the hooks on both items come off all the time. I am constantly retying them and making sure we don\'t lose them. The other thing I wish I had done was to provide something for the boys to tow and rescue so that when they opened the gifts, they had a way to use them right away. Otherwise, a great buy.

I bought this toy for a three year-old boy\'s birthday. He LOVES it. Great for sandbox play, backyard play and even beach play. It is lightweight, yet durable. What more do little kids want in the summer but sand and water! This is perfect, and reasonably priced.

Fun for the outdoors

Tonka Tough or used to be

I got one of these for my son when he was 2 and he LOVES it! I am shocked to see that Hasbro has axed or cheapened so many of its best classics! I love the old school steel Tonka toys. HE LOVED IT

I got this for my Nephew and he was 1 year at the time, he is now 2 1/2 and he still has it and plays with it, He loves it. It is not to heavy but still a great product. If something snaps off you can snap it back on. He is tough on it and it stands up to his tossing and throwing it around very well. Tonka Built it is GREAT. Dont pass it up for the price.

Durable and fun

I purchased this for my nephew for Christmas. I hardly ever saw the truck without a kid playing with it over Christmas weekend. All of my nieces and nephews fought over playing with it. My one nephew (3 years old) liked to ride the truck. The truck handled it, but I would not recommend it.

The truck does make a popping noise that can get loud if they go really fast. Other than that it is not that bad of a noise.

Overall the truck is well built and the kids love it.

I bought 2 of these. One for my son and one for his cousin. They were both 2 at the time. A year later they both still love them. The only downfall is, they are pretty noisy and loud. If you don\'t mind noise, go for it.

This is a great durable truck and would make a wonderful first truck for a child. There are no sharp edges, it stands the test of time (and being beaten on), and it\'s fun for little ones. The noise it makes, though, is very loud so be forewarned! The wheels, when pushed, sound like cards on bicycle tires from your childhood.

Stands the 2 year old test.....

I LOVE IT! My son got is for his 1 year old Christmas and we use it as an outside toy since it is more durable than regular plastic. He as used, abused and mistreated this truck and other than a few paint chips missing it is in excellent shape! They are made to be played rough by boys! We have the whole set of them and he loves them in his sandbox!!! These will be toys he can give to his boys someday!

i purchased the tonka truck which is still built tonka tuff,i was glad it is still built pretty good,my nefew liked it,cons it was a little pricey for the size of truck,but what really made me mad was that i pd for 2 day shiping.i bought it sunday night about 11pm,his birthday dinner wasnt until wenesday 6pm .no toy i was so upset. im disabled and live on a low fixed income or i would have went to store and bought it.i pd extra for 2day shipping and i didnt get until saturday.so in that respect i was totally unsatisfied.

We purchased this toy after looking at some of the plastic models in the toystore. Our 7 year old grandson is tough on his toys, and we wanted this to last. Great toy for Babies learning to walk....

So, my 1 year old little boy had his first birthday party and got this toy among many other toys. He instantly fell in love with this truck. Another toy he got that day was an Elmo Live and he literally ran over it with this truck. He got the ball popper wihich he paid no attention to. He got a lawn mower that makes popping noises and he paid no attention to it either. If you can see in the picture of the truck the big red handle above the shovel...he stands and holds this handle and walks with the truck pushing it backwards. I guess he loves it so much because he is learning to walk and this gives him the mobility he wants. He gave my wife out following him around. Great toy! Don\'t pass it up because of the mindless bad reviews. I am only speaking for boys around the time they are learning to walk.

My boys have the entire set of these trucks & they love them. They use them indoors & outdoors & they have been extremely durable (my boys can be very destructive!). This truck is large, heavy (which is good when pushing dirt) and fun!

Good truck

This is made with the same quality as all of Tonka\'s trucks. The description is a bit misleading though. It is made out of plastic, more than metal and suitable to a younger child. We will be returning it (it was to be for our 5-yr.-old\'s xmas present)and finding him a bulldozer that is more age appropriate. But it would be fabulous for a three-year old!

Best toy I ever bought

I have 3 boys, ages 6, 4 and 2. I also have 3 of these trucks. Other toys have come and gone, some are still around but not much played with. Somehow, the appeal of these trucks never diminishes. They never get tired of them! They have been played with for years now, and are pretty beaten up, but still function perfectly--SO well built! Like I said, they are the best toys I\'ve ever bought! Don\'t hesitate to buy--you can\'t go wrong with this one!

My son loves it!!!!

He loves pushing this toy out in the driveway and all around the house. He puts all kinds of crazy stuff in the bed (other cars, plastic toy food, etc...) and plays with it on and off for the whole day. A well-worth investment.

Just Like The Real Thing! Much Bigger Than Expected!

You can\'t go wrong with this monster truck. It\'s a lot bigger than you expect and the handle is the best part. Over the years I\'ve watched all 5 of my boys struggle to drag the older model tonka dump trucks all over the place. The design is awesome since it resembles the larger heavy duty quarry trucks. And the bed is much more fun since it not only holds all the sand, dirt, and rocks, but the puppy as well. My autistic son, who also has cerebal palsy and seizures has moved more dirt with this truck than any other construction toy he owns. He loves, that as he sits; he can just reach for that handle which makes it so much easier to move around whether loaded or not.

Great summer sand and water toy!

I bought this toy for a three year-old boy\'s birthday. He LOVES it. Great for sandbox play, backyard play and even beach play. It is lightweight, yet durable. What more do little kids want in the summer but sand and water! This is perfect, and reasonably priced.

Fun for the outdoors

While not exactly educational, this Tonka truck is great fun especially for hot days - the tanker part gets filled with water and then you can pump it out and it sprays through the tube. My son loves it.

Got this for Christmas, so we haven\'t made it outside yet to use the water part of it, but my son loves playing with it.

Such a cool car

I dont know what people are talking about. This car is the coolest. My 2 1/2 year old son loves it. Its extremelly durable and easy to use. He has broken so many remote control cars before but not this one. He has thrown it around and it still looks brand new. The remote is extremelly easy to use. The husband and I also love it. I like making it flip and the hubby loves putting on its side and making it go in circles. Worth every penny. My kid has been playing with it for 3 days now. For a toddler I think that is a record..lol.

Perfect Choice for Young R/C Fans

I purchased this R/C car for my 4 year old nephew in December 2008. I have not looked for one since, but let me tell you - this was the hardest thing to find! People were selling them on eBay for triple-face!!! Luckily Amazon came through in the last minute and I was able to have it delivered to my nephew for Christmas day.

As far as the car goes. It was a brilliant idea to use a soft foam body for a car - makes it perfect for kids to play around in the house without damaging anything. (Supervision is still highly recommended as no doubt your youngster will try driving the car down stairs or on the dog\'s back)

This was well worth the wait and hastle to track one down once I saw the smile on my nephews face.

Lot of fun

I bought this for my grand-son who is two, he is finally learning how to use the remote control and he loves this car. Seller was truthful about this product, it was new and never used. Thank you for being honest.

So glad I got it anyway!

I read reviews that almost stopped me from trying this - about limited remote range and bad battery life. It looked so cute I bought it anyway, and we have had NONE of those problems! My son runs the thing out of the room and into next, laughing when he hears it hit something in the next room. It seems like he has been playing it on and off for days and we haven\'t had to change the batteries yet. It is a great toy, he loves it!

Tonka still is tops

My grandson loves playing with his Tonka backhoe. He is learning eye-hand coordination and problem-solving every time he creates a \"project\" for his new toy. He has learned how to pick up objects with the scoop and what to do when his first plan doesn\'t work. The toy is sturdily built and we expect it to last for years.

Love the Recycle Garbage Truck

My son saw this Tonka Recycle truck at the store but we did not purchase it at that time. We went back a few weeks later and he was so sad because it wasn\'t there and they did not know when it would be back in stock. We searched and found it here at Amazon.com. Jim and the rest of the gang really went out of their way to get the 4 foot long garbage truck to us all the way to Hawaii! Thanks Jim and the gang - you have made a 7 year old very, very happy!

If your boy (or girl) likes big utility vehicles - very fun!!!!

My son is one of those toddlers who will race from window to window and can be talked down from a tantrum just with the mere mention of \"garbage truck\". As a matter of fact, when he was a young baby, probably 8 months old, I had him on my hip and we were watching the neighborhood garbage truck go by and I said \"Bye bye garbage truck\". I swear, he repeated exactly what I said, verbatim. He hadn\'t even said \"mama\" yet...

So this was an obvious choice for us. We found it at Wal-Mart for about [...] ..I saw it marked down to[...] the other day. Bummer.

But he has really enjoyed it, as has his sister and all the friends and family who have come to our house since Santa brought it. It\'s got lots of fun buttons, and it sorta admonishes your child if they don\'t recycle. It\'s loads of fun (literally).

And the thing is sturdy. My son is a big guy, and I swear he can easily straddle and ride the thing if the mood hits. Enjoyable, fulfills a child\'s need to enjoy something we consider ordinary and they consider magic. It makes it real for him. I recommend [...] Outrageous!

My grandson loves it!

My grandson was a year old when we purchased this. It\'s tuff and durable and he got a lot of play out of it.

Perfect!!

I bought two of these Cushy Cruisin vehicles for my Infant Room class at our child care. The babies love them! They are bright, squishy, make a wonderful, but not too loud, noise. They are large enough for little ones to push around, have working wheels, but best of all, if they flip up, or a baby/toddler falls into them, they are soft! All of our parents are trying to find them for their babies at home now and I am planning to purchase more. Thank-you, Playskool, for this amazing vehicle!

He likes it!

The only reason I purchased this for Christmas is because my son has the blue version, loves \"Cheeze Buses\" and it was on sale.

What does it do? Not much, just rolls around manually and makes that annoying idling sound that UPS or garbage trucks make. That is about it. We have had the other one for a year now and it truly is durable. My two year old son even sits on them. The other positive is that they are big and cushiony.

Fun for a bit, or atleast everytime he runs into it and remembers.

Very cute

This toy is very cute & a good size. But, the picture shows two vehicles, so that\'s what I thought I was getting. Instead it was just the one yellow bus (and I ordered two & both were the bus). But, the bus is large, about 10\" tall, is soft & perfect for little people to push around.

Fun little car for a one year old

I gave this car to my one year old and she seems to like it. We play a game where I push it to her and she pushes it back to me. As long as I play with her she will play with the School bus. Without my interaction she tends to lose interest in the vehicle.

This school bus makes noise, hit the front bumper and the engine sounds start up and run for about twenty or thirty seconds. That\'s an added feature I didn\'t know the vehicle had when I purchased it.

The bus is nice and big, well sized for a one year old to play with.

My son loves it!!!!

He loves pushing this toy out in the driveway and all around the house. He puts all kinds of crazy stuff in the bed (other cars, plastic toy food, etc...) and plays with it on and off for the whole day. A well-worth investment.

Just Like The Real Thing! Much Bigger Than Expected!

You can\'t go wrong with this monster truck. It\'s a lot bigger than you expect and the handle is the best part. Over the years I\'ve watched all 5 of my boys struggle to drag the older model tonka dump trucks all over the place. The design is awesome since it resembles the larger heavy duty quarry trucks. And the bed is much more fun since it not only holds all the sand, dirt, and rocks, but the puppy as well. My autistic son, who also has cerebal palsy and seizures has moved more dirt with this truck than any other construction toy he owns. Tonka still is tops

My grandson loves playing with his Tonka backhoe. He is learning eye-hand coordination and problem-solving every time he creates a \"project\" for his new toy. He has learned how to pick up objects with the scoop and what to do when his first plan doesn\'t work. The toy is sturdily built and we expect it to last for years.

Great classic truck!!!! BIG fun.

This is a great, classic Tonka truck.

Metal construction.

Takes a beating. My boys have had theirs for several years.

It now lives in a wooden storage box in the playground area near the sandbox and still is dragged out periodically. It is a magnet for the 3-4 year old set and still is fun for boys a little older. It is HUGE.
